The last several weeks have been filled with colds, flu, trips to urgent care, the ER for my youngest, Filippa…I’m sick in bed with a sore throat as I’m writing this. As a result of said sickness the last couple months, my workouts suffered a bit. I went from working out 5-6 days a week to 3-4 days. Oddly enough, I’ve been killing my heavy lifts. I haven’t done any traditional cardio, and I look leaner, stronger, and feel pretty fucking good.
Taking more rest days has given me tremendous gains, and allowed me to get into my other passion, designing and sewing. For a long time I thought I needed to pick one thing to do. Before I was diagnosed with anxiety last year, I had a very hard time focusing. By no means am I perfect today, but I can see differences in my motivation overall and my focus is dramatically better. I also realized, nothing says I need to be one thing or I can only pursue one dream. In the coming weeks I’ll be opening my Etsy shop, Girl Movement. It evokes female empowerment, a fashion-forward mentality, and the athleisure/comfort-wear style I love so much — for kids. For those of you who don’t know my background well, it has always been a dream of mine to design a collection and be successful (sell it 🙃). Fitness is a newer venture for me than fashion. But it led me back to designing. Now I’m able to combine both things that push me. I seriously can’t wait to share my textile designs and apparel with you and your kids.
